Hey, I don't think that getting rid of the toss will help. There will always be some pitches that will provide more assistance on the first day and others on the last day though the latter is true in majority of cases but not all. You don't want a team that has played last on a cracking track forced to bat first in next test match on a green top as it would be unfair.

However to make things fairer in a sense how about allowing the losing captain to change one player after the winning captain makes his decision to bat or bowl. Or if the winning captain is not sure he can ask the losing captain to make decision however he now has the option of replacing one of his players.

Just because someone will get the most runs or centuries doesn't mean they are the best batsman.
For example, Don Bradman. He doesn't have the most runs or centuries and is regarded as the all-time greatest. Then there's Viv Richards, who is similar too.
Alan Border had the most test runs for like 11 years or something. And people were regarding Tendulkar as best back then!

So, in my opinion, Ponting will finish with the most runs/centuries but is not the best. He has a HUGE technical flaw in his batting, and Tendulkar has no flaws, is the perfect batsman.
So who is the best batsman? The guy who has a technical flaw or the guy who is perfect?

There is no possibility India will pull out of their tour of Australia even if Harbhajan Singh’s three-Test suspension is not lifted, according to the BCCI president Sharad Pawar:
